i was driving down the freeway about 70ish and my right rear wheel broke apart the middle part stayed on the car while the outer piece of the wheel along with the tire were spinning over my rotors...lost conrol went into a ditch avoided hitting 3 trees, hugged a tree from the drivers side. Anyone else had problems with there wheels breaking apart??? i had the z06 motorsports..
The fact that your posting tells me you are OK. Wow that could have been really bad. This is the first I heard of that particular wheel failing. Usually it's a stock Z06 wheel that someone was beating on, like at an autocross. Bob
Glad you're ok. Is your C5 autocrossed on occasions?
That's really scary. I have the habit of cleaning my wheels everytime I change oil so Im no hoping no surprises like that to me. Seems like metal fatigue.
I have seen factory Z06 wheels break before... I would not buy aftermarket cheap wheels and put them on my car... Glad you are ok... is the place going to give you a new wheel now??

Sorry to hear about this and certainly glad you are OK. I've heard of the spokes in the wheels cracking before, but not one where the outside of the wheel just comes completely apart. Hope you can get the car back in shape - how much damage was done to it?
Glad to hear you ok, like ET said, this is a great reason not to buy cheap wheels. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. With the performance these cars are capable of, that's one link that is very important.

Get rid of those wheels and get something worthy of the capabilities of the car. Glad to see you are alright.
