Default Leaking Wheel

I have some aftermarket ZO6 wheels on my Vette. They have been on for about a month and the front passenger wheel keeps lossing air. I check the tire, and the rim isn't bent. Anyone else have a similer problem. Thanks, Bud

Could be that the o-ring in the valve stem/sensor assembly is leaking. Take the tire in and see if a shop can find the leak area for you. If its not at the valve stem area, it could be a slow leak from the tire bead.

I'd get some very soapy water appiled on the valve stem area. Then look for bubbles getting bigger.

Quite often, the leak is around the stem. Especially Corvette sensor stems that are screwed in for mounting. Maybe it's as simple as getting a deep socket over the fancy alloy nut around the stem and tighten it an 1/8 of a turn.

It could also be the inner valve itself. It may need to be a bit tighter. Valve stem wrenches are sold wherever bicycle accessories are sold. They cost a dollar or two.

Installers always remove the inner stem to let the air out quickly. Remember those guys at the tire and wheel shops are very fast in their work. They can overlook making sure these items are tight enough.

It kills me to see advertisments about getting new tires installed, gauaranteed in under 20 minutes. That means your alloy rims are not cleaned, and maybe your valve stems are not changed out. Rim leaks...here we come. Please take your time and do it right!

With your rims being new, you can safely rule out rim leaks. It's likely the valve stem area.
