My 2004 has the stock, painted, slim-spokes. I can buy GM parts at dealer cost. Are the GM 2004 Z06 C5 chrome wheels the same size?
Would the above be a better deal that a trade of my stockers (in perfect shape) for aftermarket wheels?
The trade off to me on aftermarket wheels is 1) bigger selection in aftermarkets- I really would like something flashier than chrome Z06 wheels, and 2) frequency of aftermarkets failing (breaking, splittling, etc.).
No. Z/06 wheels are not the same size. They're (I think) 1/2" wider, may be a whole inch. The Z/06 uses a different size tire that's why they need a repair kit. You can mount standard run-flats on Z/06 wheels, but they look like crap because the wheel is wider than the tire.
If you want aftermarket wheels, I'd advise selling yours on the forum parts section and then using the money to pay for some of the cost of aftermarkets.
Incidentally, I really don't think, at this point, that chrome repro z/06 wheels splitting is a concern unless you race. I've only seen one real example of that and it was on a car that was raced. The jury's still out on that. I certainly hope it stays out because that's what I'm running.
17x9.5 and 18x10.5 vs. your 17x8.5 and 18x9.5. As previously stated, the run fllats will fit but they're not the optimum for Z06 wheels. I just bought a used set and will go with Toyo's in Z06 sizes. If you want flash there are a ton of wheels and vendors out there. I guess it depends on your taste and budget. Good luck. - C.

Here are some good vendors to deal with if you are looking to replace your wheels: House of Wheels, Xtreme Motorsports, Corvette Garage, West Coast Corvettes. All offer a number of wheel options for the C5.
so wait, my friends grandfather owns a wrecking yard and he recently got a Z06 there totaled. he took the wheels off just for the sensors to put back into his corvette. my friend wants to sell me the Z's wheels for real cheap. but this weekend i am getting Toyo TS-1 tires. if i took the wheels up there and said hey i want those tires put on these wheels and put on that vette. would it work? or would they need to get a bigger sized tire? im getting the standard size for the stock wagon wheel, please let me know!
