A CF member wrote this:

"It took alittle elbow grease. You will need to carefully push and pry the IAT out of the rubber grommet it is in. Push it from the inside of the airbridge and then pry it from the outside using a flat screwdriver. You have to be careful not to pull it out to fast because the sensor can break. Once the IAT was out, you can then easily remove the rubber grommet and then reinstall it on the Stinger airbridge. Then you slide the IAT into the grommet."

If you have any other questions, please ask, but remember that the order of tasks listed in the procedure needs to be followed. Enjoy!

There are two versions of the Halltech Stinger Intake. One is for the 97-00 C5. The other is for 01-04.

The sensor hole on the airbridge was taken out for the 01-04 version of the Stinger. Sounds like you have an 01-04 Stinger but you need a 97-00 version for your 98.

Not good. When I ordered mine I relized they never asked me what year my car was so I called them back the next day and told them. I guess I got lucky but it sounds like you will have to send your intake back. Goodluck!

Is the airbridge red or black? I believe the 97-00 ones only come in black now. If you have a red one, I would probably send it back and make sure you get the right one.

My guess, you could drill the hole, place the stock grommet in it...plug and play Just thought about the diameter difference on the TB ??? will that make the install a problem?

If you told them up front what year your Corvette was, then they definitely sent you the wrong air bridge! If you don't want to mess w/ drilling the hole, then make them replace it with the correct one!

However, if it was me I wouldn't want to hassle with the time required to return and get another one. Drilling the hole would be easy. Just make sure that it is in the proper location and that the hole diameter is
correct.

UPDATE: Didn't know there was a difference in the throttle body inlet diameter for the later C5s! If you got the wrong bridge then I guess you also might have an issue with the coupler diameter. Make sure to get that all straightened out before you drill anything!!

Good luck!

Installed my stinger on 1/1. It was a relatively straight forward install except the instructions that I found on-line do not cover a couple of important details for 2000 and older cars.

The temperature sensor and rubber grommet that is in the OEM air bridge needs to be removed from the OEM air bridge and reinserted in the Halltech air bridge. I wasted a lot of time and energy figuring out how this is done.

1: After removal of the OEM air bridge, locate the temperature sensor and the rubber grommet.

2: The temperature sensor needs to be pushed from the inside, out through the rubber grommet. Be careful not to break the temperature sensor!

3: After removal of the temperature sensor, remove the rubber grommet from the OEM air bridge.

4: Insert the rubber grommet into the Halltech air bridge.

5: Now insert the temperature sensor into the rubber grommet in Halltech air bridge. I used a bit of spit to make it easier to insert.

Hope you read this before you install; it'll save a lot of head scratching and cussing.

The problem is that his new bridge does not have the hole for the temp sensor. My bridge was like yours (with hole) and transferring the sensor was obvious. There may be other fitment issues with his situation.

I believe that the only difference between the two is that the 2000 and older intake has the hole for the temp sensor, the 2001 does not. A hole could be drilled for the sensor.

You could be correct. I would call the vendor and ask this very question before proceeding. If the airbridge MAF openings are larger in the supplied Halltech bridge then you may very well need to send back either some or all components. Give em a call!
