I for one would like to be told if I were making a mistake in buying something from the parts section. Whether paying too much or buying from a disreputable seller.

Not saying anything to be "politically correct" or not offending the delicate senceabilities of a member is

I thought one of the advantages of being a member of this forum is to help one another.

If you find a better deal on something PLEASE let me and others know .

There's many RIP OFFS or at least better deals elsewhere on sites like E-bay and (oh my goodness) the FOR SALE section on this fourm.

If I can save someone some cash or save them from a possable bad experience from an unscrupulous seller I'm going to tell them.

Put yourself in the shoes of the seller. I was trying to sell a Borla Stinger system, brand new, sealed in an unopened box, to any local buyer. I offered it at the exact price I bought it from a forum-supporting vendor and I even ate the shipping charges, and was willing to drop it off locally.

Even though I thought this was a fair deal, I still got a reply to my "for sale" post that pointed out that the item could be gotten at a better cost from a non-supporting vendor. That was rude. I wasn't making any money on the deal; I was losing a few dollars in the end, geez.

Don't sabotage someone's sale. It's against forum rules, and just plain rude.

I don't think its a matter of manners at all. This is not a democracy and this is not a system that catches only a small percentage of rule violations; you must follow the rules or suffer the certain consequences as the Forum police catch 99.999% of the violations here within milliseconds and there is no trial or appeal, just punishment!

Those who say the rules here are no written in stone mean they are forged in stainless steel.

I guess the other question, besides the Forum rules is are you considering purchasing the item or are you just window shopping? If you're just window shopping - I say MYOB. The price between the seller and the potential buyer is between them.

I would like to post something here...This is just an example...

Seller, Vendor wants to sell a throttle body bypass for 19 dollars...

I feel it my duty to tell any potential buyer of this 700% marked up product, and in some case the shipping is another 7 dollars..

A simple 1/8 double ended bayonet nipple cost 1.89 at home depot and 2 stainless steel mini clamps@ 40 cents each. total cost 2.69.

Do the vendors have a right to make as much money as possible from an unsuspecting and captive audience as we have here???

Do we as member of the forum have a right to tell anyone that the same components can be had for 3 dollars at home depot.

To say that there is No hype, BS, misrepresentation, exaggerated claims,
here on the forum is like saying O.J didn't do it ! IT just isn't true...

I am here to protect my fellow Corvette brother and sister, and applaud those vendors who treat the membership in a fair and responsible way.

I wont turn my back on anything that seems wrong....

Whenever I see an overpriced item, I'll PM any interested buyers to let them know they may be able to find the item at a better price if they keep looking. However, a private seller can set the price at whatever he/she chooses. If someone agrees to pay the high price then an agreement has been made and no harm done. For example, I bought my Ti exhaust for $175. I wouldn't pay $400+ for Ti's but you see them sold on the forum at that price. For some buyers, $400+ for Ti's is a fair price. It's not the seller's fault the buyer didn't search for a better deal. Is it?

I think the first RULE of the Corvette Forum is to provide any and all aid you can to other Corvette owners. Generally, that means providing them information on their car, how to repair or modify it AND where they can get the best price for the best equipment that I know of.

If you're selling a widget for 20 bucks and I know where someone can get it for 10, I have an obligation to tell him where he can get it for 10, just as I would tell him that Corvette Garage has a better deal on a high-performance hood seal than Ecklers does (that's just an example, I have no idea what either really charges for a hood seal).

This is, in no way, intended to hurt the seller (although that's an undesirable aspect of it) but it's intended solely to aid a member get what he needs for the part.

Besides, if it's selling new for 10 bucks, chances are the seller didn't pay 20 for it either and is trying to make a buck off his buddy.

I am heading for higher ground now.

All seriousness though I do appreciate the knowledge, and yes O.J. did it, for all you Kool Aid drinkers out there (not that many here I hope).

PM the seller if you think he is asking too much. If you think it is some sort of rip off scam PM the moderator. Don't post negative information on someones sale thread. In other words follow the rules.
