Another day of trial and some error. I'm trying a silver TPU filament for the fake bolts. I'm kinda liking it but not sure about the aluminum lug nuts. Might need the black ones. I'll have a look tomorrow with those. I'm also printing off some black bolts with the TPU filament to see if they might be a little better to go with the black lugs. The silver bolts fit very well and are snug enough I won't have to worry about them coming out. Arctic blast is coming over the next few days and the weekend so not much will be happening. 30 degree below zero wind chill. Staying inside if I can help it.

i like the black lugs and purple bolt head covers the best
just find a way to purplize the valve stem and get a purple valve stem cover/cap!

Thanks for the comments. Currently leaning to all silver stuff. But I'm getting some comments from local family and friends and they pretty much all say purple bolts with black lugs too. I'm torn now. 😮 😄 I am currently printing off a set of purple bolts as we speak. I'll see if they grow on me.

Thanks for that too. It's what I normally use it for, for now anyway.
Got the front splitter off about 2 months ago. I've been hunting for a decent body guy around these parts for a while now as I needed to take it off to get repaired since it has a few cracks in it. My nieces husband works at the local Chevy dealership in the body shop. So I talked to him last weekend and he said he'd look at it. I also have a carbon fiber one I bought a few years ago from C7Carbon as a spare that I've wanted painted too. So I took them both in and we'll see how they do with the paint match. I told him to spray the carbon one first so they have a reference to match it with the other one. He doesn't do any body or paint work on the side so I'll see now much the dealership costs I guess. Might go out and try to get the radiator in today too. Been way to long and I'm losing motivation to do it.
Yeah, the salt is a big deterrent still. Might rain later this week I hope. My neighbor had his C8 out a few days ago. For me it is still to early though. Definitely getting the itch too. 😎👍
Spent some time out in the garage today. Couldn't ask for better weather. It was a little chilly in there so I even opened the overhead door to warm it up some. Got the radiator changed out and filled. I'm going to start it and run it for a half hour or so tomorrow just to make sure its all good. No leaks when I left it earlier but I'll see how it all is in the morning.
It is all buttoned up and put back together and ready to go, just didn't take a picture of it.
Bought a new tool to play with too. It's that vacuum/pressure coolant tester/filler thingy mabob. And it works really well. When I was done installing everything on the car I put pressure to it to make sure there wasn't any leaks before liquid went in. Held great so I put some vacuum to it to suck the coolant in. I will say, I love this process and it only took maybe 2 minutes to suck it in. No need to run it, but I am going to do that anyway as I'm still old school and visual. I'll go out in the morning and sit with it for a while just to make sure. But now at least I can drive it if the need or want should arise.
Went out to check if there's any leaks this morning. Didn't see anything, but did notice the oil pan is getting a little wet. Definitely oil too. So I'll be looking into that now.....always something. It does have 98,500 miles on it and it is almost 28 years old. So I guess that's not a bad run before it happened.
Yeah, never a dull moment around here lately. I do really like the DeWitts stuff too. I've had the dual fans to go with it also. You can really hear them when they kick on. This oil pan gasket is going to turn into one of those "while I'm there" kind of things I think. Might as well change the harmonic balancer. Just ordered the summit one and the arp bolt for it. Thinking about some LS6 heads too. The perimeter bolt valve covers on the early LS1's are very hard to find and the upgraded heads will make a smidge more hp, and that's never a bad thing. If I do the heads, gotta do the cam too, right. Not sure about those yet though. They've always been in my head but haven't done anything with them. Not sure I'll be able to handle the pan gasket here at home with the wife and the attention she needs, so I'm going to go price shopping in the morning to a couple shops around here and see what they're going to charge. And if they're even comfortable doing it and have done them on a C5 before. I have to be able to trust them too. We'll see.....hate to have a shop touch it too.

The oil pan and gasket and harmonic balancer replacements are two big time consuming jobs. While replacing the balancer, replace the front main seal as well.
I went with a Summit Balancer and an ARP on my C6 and had an oil leak issue after 2 years. I have read where the GM bolt is the better choice, and as a bonus it's a lot less money. Look into that first.
As a comparison I replaced the balancer on my wife's C5 with a Powerbond and a GM bolt and had no issues.
Also, the Summit balancer is heavier than a Powerbond.
