I have my own printer. I bought a cheaper one color model just to get use to it about a year ago. I still need to learn CAD too, I haven't played with any of that yet. Now that I'm kinda comfortable with how the thing works, I'm going to upgrade to a multicolor version sometime later this year I think. I originally bought it to make toys and stuff for the grandkids. The things they were buying at the art festivals were pretty pricey. When they were here last time I think I made 4 or 5 different things for them. Then I found some files for the C5's and made a couple things for that too. I'm still learning the difference between all the different filaments and how to use them. But it's fun to play with.
I have gone so far as to download Fusion as a free cad software but have not yet invested time in learning it. The next evolution would of course be selection of a printer and filaments to begin being creative. Like you, I see the benefit in home-made toys in addition to clear vehicle applications. I grew up spending weekend taking tin and plastic figurines such as knights, vikings or Napoleonic era soldiers and melting or bending them to unique poses and then painting them. It was a lot of fun as I recall at age 11 ! I see the ability to print or make simple toys as another fun venture when my daughter and any future kids come along.
Honestly, I don't have room. I brought about 70 awards back with me from Arizona from all the years I was there. They are still in boxes and torn down so they'd travel easier when we moved. I have about 8-10 from being in Nebraska now too. I'm debating on building a shelf system out in the garage along the ceiling a couple feet from the top. Not sure that will happen but it would make the area cooler maybe. Time will tell.
That's exactly what I did.
Of course, you would need purple LEDs

I've heard of Fusion and good things about it for a learning site. I do want to learn some of it too. I don't plan on being great at it but want to be able to make something of my won design sometime in the future.

That is a pretty cool way to display stuff. I may look into that someday and dig out some of the old ones. Thanks
So this one time, at band camp.......I was looking for insurance help since my agent here in Huskerville has pretty much not lifted a finger to transfer my insurance from Arizona to Nebraska since we got here. I got a call from my agent in Arizona last week that the documents couldn't be delivered. So I go online and check and sure enough, the address is still Arizona. So I said screw my agent here and went looking for my own. I got in touch with the NCM and within a few days I had new insurance for the Vette. I had American Modern as my previous company and it was for 6,000 annual miles. I put the new insurance at 3,000 miles as I don't drive it like I use to. The payment got cut by 2/3's and I'm very happy about that. The agreed on value stayed the same too as did the amounts if anything happens. When I got done talking to the NCM agent he told me that I should be getting an email from American Modern to confirm it all. I about went completely white when I heard that. I thought I was getting a new company and dealing with the actual NCM. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy the NCM will be my agent now, but I thought they had their own insurance. Now I just have to cancel the other policy that's still in Arizona. That is in the works as we speak too. Hope it all works out and no issues. Anywho, that's what my day has been about. The best part is, the grandkid's and my daughter arrived this evening from NC for a couple weeks. So I'll be busy doing papa things. How fun is that.
Car insurance is so fickle these days. My first time living in Fl, mid 90’s, I had Progressive and they were fine. I moved back to Ca, Progressive didn’t offer coverage there, so I go with GEICO; great rates.
Later, we move back to FL, GEICO covers us there. I double check every year and no one can beat their rates, even USAA. All is fine until about three years ago and rates go up each semester. Finally, their rates are just untenable. I have a bunch of other insurance with Progressive, so I give them a call…they come back over a grand less than GEICO!
This is like dating and all the really hot chicks were just released from mental institutions. 😀

But we preferred them over the rest!
I've been perfectly happy with USAA for decades now until the recent hikes. My 1994 Ram costs as much as a newer car. How???? They tried to say scarcity of parts when asked, to which I said I just rebuilt the entire truck and parts exist for cheap for every piece and they're full of it. Part of my issue is owning too many cars right now and keeping them all insured. I should take two off. But I should probably sell a different combo of two. The old Benz which is parked and the '15 Buick could be rid of my stable. The coupe I just bought it looking more and more like a perishable good as well as early parenthood looms.
Had the county fair in the town I grew up in yesterday afternoon. My grandson wanted to ride with and throw out some candy. Then just before we left to register I asked the granddaughter if she wanted to ride along too. So we all 3 went for a ride. Had to do the red, white and blue thing since it's an American sports car. My sister and daughter helped decorate it. The kids loved riding in the car and it was the first time they've been old enough to be without a car seat. I'll have to teach them how to conserve the candy though as we ran out before we got to the end. They threw out handfulls and way to much at one time. Had a boast with them though. Then after the parade we went to the demolition derby. I love watching those.
Got these from the gopro. I'll have to adjust the settings it looks like. It looks like fisheye.....🤔
Granddaughter throwing candy and the grandson in the second picture.
On another note, I got my new DeWitts radiator yesterday too. Kids will be here until August 4th, so I won't be working on getting that installed or anything else until after they leave. Don't want to take time away from them.
A little late to the conversation, but I have had NCM/American Modern on my C5 Z06 for about 4-5 years now. I have an agreed value policy at $60k and 3000 miles per year with rollover. No telling how many miles I have accumulated because I don't drive it near as much since I bought the C8Z. I think I drove it 3 times last year. Still considering selling it because I'm just not able to care for it like it deserves with back pain.
Enjoy your time with the grandkids Mark, nothing is better. I am blessed to have my granddaughter living with me now.
