what do these codes mean
I got these codes today and need to know what they mean...P0171 and P0174..I know they are lean trim bank 1 and 2. What does that mean and how do i fix it..I just got the PCM tuned and converted from a M6 to A4. Is this something in the tune and something else gone wrong? What can be the problem? Thanks...Mike

Im not the expert here but I had the same codes after installing an aftermarket MAF. I believe it is the air/fuel ratio, and the code shows it is lean, which my tech tells me running lean is not good on the ls1. As far as the fix, make sure there are no vaccum leaks around the air bridge and throttle body hoses. If you havent already reset the codes and see if they immediately come back.

Use your scanner and see if your short and long term fuel trims do anything before you get the cel. The shorts have to go to at least 14% -or+ before they set the cel. Just getting to 14 won't set them off, they have to be there for awhile. However, if you have another incident with the lean condition, that will set the cel right away.
If your long terms are fine but change under unknown conditions, it's probably not your tune but an outside problem like fuel pressure drops.
