Are those power programmers from Crane or any other manufacturer worth the money. They claim 30 to 45 hp increase which is great for $500. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these. Thanks.

Got one, will remain un named. All cam tunes turned out to be idendical. One timing cell was set to 12deg in an attempt to make car idle. Never would idle right and all I could control was idle speed. Car was exceptionaly quick for one or two runs then the severe knock would retard timing, in just a few runs I would be on the low timing table. Car had Lt's, LS6 intake. STg II heads and an old man cam.
For just a little more money you can get HP or EFI, both have a learning curve. HP has friendlier support group. I use EFI and learn new things every day.
30 to 40 is a pipe dream.

Yeah, 30-40 is a pipe dream. On the C5's we generally see about 10-15rwhp on A4 cars, and 12-18 on M6s with the tunes in the Predator. The real advantage along with the extra power is getting control over many different adjustable parameters, like rev limits, rear O2 delete, CAGS disable, and full control of the tranny in A4 applications.
There are also full diagnostic capabilities and the ability to return to the stock tune at any time if you should so desire.

Thanks
Mike

Get HP Tuner and be done with it as u will be happier in the end. Just has so much more options than with a handheld. It will have a recordable scan tool built in but U need a Laptop.

AGRRED the Corvettes and Camaro's are pretty highly tuned already and GM didn't leave much on the table to work with-on the other hand--the trks and SUV's there is more-about 25-30 .--Save your money for a real tune from a tuner
