So what does your mileage look like with the Predator tune, compared to the stock tune?
I may be able to help with a custom tune.

Thanks
Mike

I was getting 18mpg with my car, even WITH the DOD...

after using the Diablo Tune No DOD (disable the DOD feature, so I'm always on all 8 cyl. now!) and getting my fueling dialed in, my mileage went UP to 20.5 to 21...

I just wish someone could answer me this simple question:

I have 3.15 A4 Dual cone intake with performance exhaust.
I live in California where only 91 octane is available.

QUESTION: Will the standard canned performance tune which is developed for 93 Octane work near perfect (no adjustments needed) or will I suffer detonation (pinging) problems?

Everyone including Predator people just say "you should be ok and/or you can always adjust the settings"

Not looking for a guesstimate type answer, someone with my situation and actually has gone thru this PLEASE help me with a spot on answer.

Thanks very much,

I'll say this.
I have never heard form any of our CA users having any KR issues when running the tune.
It sounds like you have no desire to do any adjusting on your own, and thats fine, but it is VERY simple to do. You dont need to be a pro tuner to make the changes.
Get the tool, and load the tune, you'll love the way it shifts in addition to the new power it will add....

Thanks
Mike

Thank you Mike, I do need to "pull the trigger", all my consternation has to do with my last car and the 91 vs 93 issue using SCT xcal, it took months before everything was figured out and I went months with pinging and stuff. I will purchase one next week as the deals are VERY VERY attractive. Thank you again, it is great to know you are always here for us and there is also the 91 octane USB file availability, correct ?

Thanks much,
Les

50th,
I have Catback Exhaust and x pipe, Vararam CAI intake and I am running the Performance tune in California on the 91 octane and I am not having any pinging issues. Car runs great. Oh yeah, it also didn't make my gas mileage any worse either. Just more SOTP fun.

Thank you Greg,
This is what I was wanting to hear, are you sure your program is the 93 octane tune and you are using 91 with it. I ask because there are 91 tunes out there but at an additional $150.00 or so, please advise.
Thanks again brother,
Les

There would be no need to buy a tune for 91 octane....you can alter the timing in the Predator. (That is the only difference between a 93 and a 91 octane tune).

Thanks

Well my Diablo tuner has been shipped on Tuesday, I think it will be a great addition. And as for a great deal, I STRONGLY suggest you check out Tbyrne. Minor question, where do I plug it in ? Inside the cabin, like my old XCAL or will I be going under the hood. I hope verything settles in and adjusts on it own, taking into account what I have already stated regarding my car and CA. gas situation ?

Also, for conversation sake, lets say with my current set up,A4, 3.15, twin cone and flowmasters, my current 0-60 is 5.0 flat and 1/4 run is 13.5,
what will the canned performance tune do to reduce these times, any quess`s or better yet any hard data relative to my set up ?

Any further comments regarding, you should or should not do, would be very appreciated also.

Peace quys,

0-60 performance has more to do with traction than power, but I would expect to see .2 improvement in 1/4 mile time compared to a back to back stock run.

Thanks

Have you confirmed from actual mileage that you are really getting only 23 mpg, or is it possible the DIC is simply displaying the wrong info?
I'd imagine you would notice such a drastic difference in mileage....

If it is indeed that low, try monitoring some live data to see what the LTFTs look like at a steady cruise and we'll try to dial it all in.

Thanks
Mike
