Default Predator Help

Holding off till I have all mods done for a Dyno Tune. In the mean time, did a standard Predator Tune, and noticed all of the other parameter options. Please share with me what you did with these. I have a Halltech stinger, Magnaflow with X, Auto, 3.15 gears. (soon 3.42's) Did change the fan temp and very pleased. What else can or should I do?

adjust your part-throttle and WOT PE fueling to get more throttle response, quicker/better acceleration, and stronger pull...

http://diablosport.com/index.php?nam...iewtopic&t=917

for normal driving/cruise (a.k.a. pat throttle), you gotta dial in the LTFT's (long term fuel trims) via the injector slope setting, and once that's done and the ltft's are in the appropriate/acceptable range, then you can dial in the WOT PE fueling via the PE rpm range settings.

Great advise and help, but a bit technical for me. I look at the screen on the Predator and see left or right, up or down. Being a bit "Predator challenged" some simple specifics would help.

He would have either a U7198 or U7193 for the 99-04 Vettes.

Follow this link to Lew's writeup on our forums about how to adjust parameters in the Predator.
Keep in mind that your tool can not yet log, so you would have to gather data in real time.

Hey Guys...

I'm really interested in the handheld tuner devices...

For those who have the Predator, can u tell me what kinda of performace increase you felt. I spoke to them and they're saying to expect about 20/hp/20tq from their perf tune.

thanks!

Your car may vary. 20/20 hp/tq maybe on some cars peak but usually probably not that much. I have the predator and it is great for my mods (light) and I did notice an improvement. Useful if you are not modding much. If changing heads/cam or adding FI not the way to go. It is a nice device though. I just wish it logged. Hopefully someday.

You know, Vortech, Paxton, Procharger, and STS to name a few include Predators with their power adder kits to make them truly plug and play.
There is really no limit to the amount of custom tuning that can be done with our software.

.....as for logging, I have had an engineer here logging on my LS1 Z28 all week, in preparation for a hardware update we hope to offer in the near future for all of the older GM Predators that can not currently log.

Thanks
Mike

I do realize that FI kits come with predators. Thats great, but if you want to do add-ons like Heads/cam you have to go and get a custom tune from a Predator tuner center $. With the other tuning software you have the flexibility to do the tune (no limits). Don't get me wrong I like my predator and as far as the mods i have done it works great and gives me the flexibility to make changes. Just limited changes for bigger mods.

And can't wait until the U7198 can do logging. Unsafe to try to watch the screen and drive.

If you have an A 4 2.73 like I do, you will RRealy see and feel the difference. For the price in my opinion it's the best bang for the $.
I alreaday had LT's and air intake they made a difference but SOTP difference came from the Predator.
I since installed a 3.42 and a TC 3200 Diablo provided me with a costum tune Now that was a big big difference.

2079...thanks for the info!

I have the identical setup to you A4 & 2.73. I installed the KN FIPK and just placed the order for the Predator. I'd just like to wake the car up a bit. Perhaps get the thing to run 12.8/12.9.

Have you been to the track at all?

Thanks again!

2079,
What kind of changes did you make besides the normal performance tune? I have an A4 with 2.73 (still) and a blackwing. I just got my predator about a week ago so its pretty new to me. The one thing I did notice that I did not expect is my MPG to drop way down. I went from and average of 25mpg on my drive to work (which is mostly cruise control @ 75) to 20mpg. That just doesnt seem correct. Last night while doing some tweaking I had the regular performance tune loaded with no changes at all DIC said 20.9mpg. I increased my spark advance 5% and bumped up the shift speed and firmed up the shifting vs TP position. I saved that tune and when the DIC came back up my avg mpg dropped to 19.2 and I never even started the car. Granted I didnt purchase this to get better gas mileage but I did expect it to a least stay the same under normal driving conditions.

Often times the DIC will display improperly after writing a tune.
Making a change to the injector slope tends to skew the readings further.
Try calculating mileage manually and I would expect it to be at least the same, if not slightly better than stock.

Thanks
Mike

That would be great. Although the people I show it to look at it and say "what do these readings mean" . Lot better getting the readings and study them later anyways.

You certenly will wake it up.... Yes I have been to the track with LT's and air intake I ran 13.3 on a cold day never ran it stock although other vets on that day ran 13.5 .6 they were stock.
With the predator my best time was 12.9 whith a poor 60 ft..again SOTP you could realy notice the differenre IE; solid firm shift etc..
Now with the 3.42 etc.. back to the track once span ned all the way dow the track barely got a 12.9
I just got drag radials hope to be able to go tomorow or sunday weather permiting and try to run low 12....
Hope this answer s your question
I got a predator as there are no tuners in my area most will say get a real tune if you have acces to one , but id did not and I am almost satisfied whith this product.
Dont easitate go for the Diablo
