How does a bad MAF sensor act
My 02 coupe started a surge at about 45 to 55mph. I have a wideband and it goes from 13.2 rich to 18 lean and it will do it at 70mph just not as bad. I tune with HPTuner. If I fail the MAF and run in SD it does not do this surge and runs great. So has anyone had a MAF sensor fail and act like this? I will log again today if anyone would like to see the log when it does this. PM me for the log and tune files.Thanks

I replaced the MAF sensor off my 04 GMC 6.0L (same part#) and it does the same thing.So it is not the MAF sensor.I swaped them back and same thing.On a side note my GMC ran fine with the vette MAF sensor.I put the vette in CLSD and it runs great.I would like to get this figured out.Do you think it is my CAI (Vararam)?

Since you have HPTuners, run a scan log for a bout 20 minutes and log only your performance pids. Then go to the HPT website and post the results. You should have excellent responses on what the problem is and possible solutions. Without the scan you are only chasing symptoms and not finding the real cause. Usually when the MAF sensor is failing it will throw code(s), check for them as well.
