Default Front o2 Sensor Problems!!!

well i have a 01 zo6 with a fresh forged H/C/I 347, and i have been having problems with the front Bank 2 o2 sensor. Its stuck at 450mv and sometimes moves to 455mv. But bank 1 moves from 820mv to 180mv at idle. Both o2 sensors are fairly new bosch's from advanced auto (Less than 2500 miles). The previous owner (500hp of this forum) of my car did the engine work and stated that he replaced the both front o2s when he did the Kooks Lts. He also said he noticed the front Bank 2 o2 sensor stuck at this value after he had a dyno tune (before the engine rebuild) and the rears turned off. So how do i diagnois this problem. As i am supposed to be getting a dyno tune this Sunday.

Thanks for you input, L.J. Treffer

Unplug the connector, clean and inspect the contacts, and re-test. If that fails, swap the sensors side to side and retest. That'll tell you if it's the sensor or wiring.

good advice about making sure connections are good--also swapping the 02's from side to side will help isolate the problem-if after the swap the flatlined .450 moves to the other side then it is in the 02 or pigtail--if it stays on the same side then you have a wiring problem from that pigtail back to the ECM---ALSO--You didn't mention if you have headers--If you do quite often it is a common mistake to accidently plug in the rear 02 pigtail onto the front--this will make it read a constant .450 as well---

Bosch sensors are known to fail.We stopped ussing them a long time ago. The factory sensors are alot more dependable.

ok ive got the front sensors working now, BUT when i took my car to get dyno tuned he told me that they are not running hot enough and i need to get a set of REAR (after Cat) o2s. So now what im wondering is where is the best place to get rear o2s and does anyone have a part number for them.

I just bought 2 from another forum member. They had 18k on them and they were rear 02's and I gto them for $50.00.

Post in parts for sale/wanted and you should get a fairly quick response as I had 2 different members respond to me via PM with 2 rear 02's for sale at a very good price, considering new they are about $70.00 a piece.

Good luck.

They are not getting hot enough because the 02 sensor bungs on your headers are further back then they were with the stock manifolds--Putting the rear 02's onto the fronts helps--but may not always cure the problem---As well you are getting erroneous 02 readings and your commanded closed loop (part throttle) AFR of the stoich. 14.68 is probably a much richer 12 or 13-1----To make sure it is all correct would require a wideband and a scanner/tuner-- If you have a scanner take it for a ride on the freeway-don't accelerate--don't lift (if possible) then start the scanner---watch the 02 voltage AVERAGES--They should be .450------Yours are probably averaging a richer .500 or so--
To adjust this use the "02 switching point table"--Keep subtracting 10% at a time to the whole table til the averages are .450-----When done check your work with a wideband to be sure--Even just sticking the wideband into the tailpipe will give you a good idea--It may show just a little bit leaner than actual because of your cats--maybe .10 - .20 of a point---
