Basic tune questions

Default Basic tune questions

Been thinking of this.

I have all the stuff, wideband, HP Tuners etc.

When you pull an O2 to install a wide band just to read A/F do you turn it off in HP tuners?

My car is a cam only LS6 with LG headers and catless X pipe, Vararam and 11 to 1 compression.

I found a tune in the HP Tuners repository that should be very close and was going to copy it over and then run the wideband to see whats up.

That's one way to do it, but unless you plan on running with the O2s off all of the time (in open loop) I would keep the narrowband in place and put the wideband in one of the normally post-cat O2 positions (if you've got one in your non-stock setup), tailpipe, or have a bung welded into your exhaust for the placement of the wideband.

You are going to want to put the car in openloop so it wont read the O2 sensors. In HPtuners (Engine, fuel, open & closed Loop, closed loop enable, ECT vs. IAT) set to 285 across the board.

Car will not use the O2 sensors at that point. You are also going to want to watch for the adders in openloop. Make sure there is no fueling being added while scanning. Open loop EQ ratio is one that will add fuel until car is up to temp for instance.
