Default EASE vs EFILive

I'm thinking about getting either EASE or EFILive. Which is better and
why? Which has more features and/or parameters? Is one less buggy
than the other?

I'll be scanning my '99 C5, but if either program will also work on my
'02 Silverado (5.3L), that might help me decide.

TIA for any detailed feedback.

Hands down, EFILive as far as I am concerned. I have both and EFILive is so much more easier to work with.

I really like EASE a lot, USB support Win XP support does on the fly averaging. user friendly, makes seperate folders for each of my vehicles. JMHO

Don, do you use the bidirectional controls in EASE? I have not tried the ones in EFILive, but they look interesting.

One thing different between EASE and EFI is I could never get EASE to output any IAC info (the EASE tech people said it is not an output on 2002 and up PCM's). I have it indirectly with the DESIAC parameter in EFILive.

Hi Roger,

I am not sure EASE supports bi-directional controls, if I am not mistaking the bi-directional controls you speak of are temporary commands you send to the PCM. My buddy Les has EFI Live and is very happy with it also, I don't use that paramater "IAC" in my logging.

Apparently whatever you are doing you are doing well, since I see you are a member of the 11 sec club! Very cool!

The only reason I mentioned Ease's bidirectional controls is one day I had to reload EASE on the laptop and lo and behold, a "blue" icon appeared on the left that said BiDirectional. I selected it and up came a screen with some buttons, etc. I did not know what it was at the time and paid no attention to it.

As far as IAC, I need it now to set the idle so the cam I have will not produce the cruise control effect. I almost have it cured but it needs a little more tweaking.

As soon as some cool air arrives in Dallas (in about 4 months!) we will hit the track again and try for a deep 11 sec. run. We recently ran 12.01 @ 115 in 3500 ft. DA weather. The heat and low barometer really kill the times, but it does to everyone else also, so I do not feel so bad. Also, with the setup I have now, gears are a big factor. I want 3.42’s but really need 3.73’s. They are extremely expensive so I may just settle for the 3.42’s since they are stock, where as the 3.73’s are not.

Thanks Roger, I will look into that bi-directional icon you seen. If you have one, I want one. :D

If I remember when I get home today, I will reload EASE and see if the bidir icon pops up again.

I like EFILive a lot. I can be fussy about such tools (my buddies at work would say that's an understatement) and I have no complaints so far.
