Default TB Sizing --> How big to go

Help Please... This is probably a newby question but I am trying to get an accurate answer -

What is the stock size of the TB on an 01 C5? I have heard numbers like 78mm.

How large can you realistically go? Somewhere I heard that when considering the 90mm you should have some additional bore and/or stroke.

Given that the 01 has the LS6 intake manifold, what is the correct combination for improved intake (I have just completed the K&N Tie Wrap Mod)?

I would appreciate any thoughts in this area. Also, I will be putting LG Motorsports LT Headers on the car in next few weeks.

Unless you have a big **** H/C package making over 450 rwhp or more cubes you'll be wasting your money and loosing torque. For example adding a FAST w/ 90mm TB and 1 7/8ths inch headers will make power, but it will be at the ultimate top end of the revs, and you'll loose area under the curve (car will feel more sluggish). Save youre money for now.

The stock TB is just fine up to 425 rwhp!
As cobra's says, if you go bigger without H/C or supercharger, you might end up losing low end torque.

I just added a 90mm TB and boy the car feels like a freight train @ WOT now. Seems like it picked up bottom and top end.

Perfect example of the types of combination that can utilize the parts in question. Too much for a stocker IMO.

I installed a shanerS2 on mine, and it made a huge difference in the throttle response. It also seemed to change the exhaust sound to a little deeper tone, and slightly louder. I found that the TB really woke up the car. Some of the mods done previous to the TB was an LS6 intake, Blackwing, and larger airbridge. I think that in order to get the best benefit of a performance TB, you would need to at least change the air intake and intake manifold.

I would like to see actual proof that people lose low end power with the 90mm setup. I have never heard of, or in my experience seen a loss. Every car has gained. Actual results vary depending on how much the stock intake is choking the car. I would say that if you don't atleast have a cam and headers, your money is better spent in other areas first though.
