Cat Back Pipes With Res Tips?

On my brother's vette, he had the mufflers cut off right after the pipe came over the axle but before they turn to the side. If you unbolt the tailpipes, it will give you a very good idea of what it will sound like at idle and when you rev it. If you drive it like this to see how it will sound, you will get a LOT of resonance at 2000 RPM, but you can at least get an idea of what it will sound like when you floor it, etc... The resonance will almost be completely gone if you do it the way my brother's was. The idea is just like an SLP Loudmouth, only about $500 cheaper. My brother's cost about $150 to finish. After the mufflers were cut, the guy fabbed up 2 Y's and ovaled the tips just a bit. He welded the Y's to the point he cut the mufflers off of. Then, he put the stock chrome tips on it and put them exactly where the tips were from the factory. To take care of the problem of not having anywhere to hang the tailpipes from. he used 2 exhaust hangers screwed to the bottom of the bumper right before the tips. It looks factory and you can't see the exhaust hangers from the back. THE CAR SOUNDED AWESOME IMO. You should really consider this as a VERY INEXPENSIVE exhaust setup. Also, some guys argue about losing too much backpressure, etc..., but IMO, the car felt WAY stronger without the mufflers. I think you will be happy with the sound you get out of it. I was gonna do this to my vette, but i got TPIS headers, Corsa H-Pipe, and Corsa mufflers for $500, so im gonna try those mufflers first.
I hope this helps.
