Default Very silly newbie question

Hey everyone, just bought my first Corvette this past weekend

I got a set of wheels on the way and I'm just curious whether the C5's come with wheel locks stock since the seller did not give me a key and I forgot to ask. It's a 99.

Now your probably wondering why I don't just go outside and check myself. Well the thing is, the car is at my cousin's place in Washington, and I have to wait 72 hrs for U.S customes to verify the paperwork before I can export it, meanwhile the wheels are on their way and I'm gonna mount them on before I come home.

Thanks everyone.

P.S Oh also there is a little light at the bottom of the rearview mirror that just would not turn off, it's on the passenger side only. It's a part of the reading/door opening light, but not the entire thing, like a small dim circle of light, i can't seem to turn it off. Any ideas?

There should be locks, but I'm pretty sure the lugs are going to be ugly on your new wheels since they are hidden by the center caps on wagon wheels. I could be wrong about this, but you may want to get 16 chrome lugs and a set of 4 locks for you new wheels. They are standard 60* acorns with 12x1.5mm threads.

That's supposed to be there, and you can't turn it off. It lights up the gear shifter and ash tray area for you

If you're not worried about using them again it isn't that hard

A chisel (or something similar) and a hammer are my favorite at work. Make sure you have enough of an angle to get the lug locks rotating, then once they break loose you can spin them off with your fingers. Just be careful not to damage the rims, you can probably get about $200 for the set if you don't want to keep them.

Shouldn't there be a key stashed in one of the three rear storage compartments? I thought the earlier C5s put them there. Might be worth a look.

There is a slot in the left stowage compartment, the key can be there, or it might be in a black vinyl bag in one of the compartments, or it might be in the glove box. If not you can use a thin walled socket that is alittle smaller , bang it on with a hammer and then remove the lock nut.

My 98 I bought a couple years ago did NOT have wheel locks. By the way, does your car have Chrome or standard Wagon Wheels? I,m looking for a chrome set myself.

My '99 came with wheel locks. The key is under the left rear compartment cover in a little indentation near the center compartment cover.

Take your vin # go to your nearest chevy dealer and order the lug nut lock key for your vehicle. If you pay extra $$$ you could have it overnight.

A good tire shop can just chisel the silly thing off. Then replace with a standard lug.
