100 Ft Lbs, in sequence. Manual specifically tells you not to use air tools!

Is there a relatively cheap torque wrench that can be used for the wheel lug nuts?

If you ever really apply 220 foot pounds, you'll snap the studs right off.

Impact guns should come with a warning label about wheel lug nuts. How many ruined nuts, wheels, and warped rotors have been caused by them?

Harbor frt. has 1/2'' for $9.99 and 3/8'' for $16.99.
I got the 1/2'' one for taking the wheels off and cleaning the wheels and under the wheel wells after going to the drag strip. Works fine for me.

Be careful, the next question will be how do you change a broken stud.

Default Torque on wheels

Looks like your tire shop needs training..................... 100 should be more than enough

You'll bust your nuts (lug) trying to torque them to 220ft.lbs
manually... ask anyone who has ever torqued a crank pulley bolt.

If you want to use an air gun pick up a 100 # torque stick.

HOLY CRA$ Don't use that much - no need to break off studs here.

The GM manual calls for 100 ft lbs

Dont buy anything from Harbour Freight! I dont care how much of a bargain it looks. My first order for $90 ended up in the trash can (except for some impact wrench extensions which I use for banging stuff off with a hammer).. the stuff is rejects from China and India

And would you trust a $9.99 torque wrench to give an accurate reading??? I would trust my arm better than that

Sears is running a sale on torque wrenches this week. I bought the clicker type for around $50. It was $30 off.

They also had the needle type and they were around $20. These came with the Craftsman lifetime guarantee. The clickers only have a 1 yr. guarantee.
