Default Car hoist question

Can you raise a C5 with a car hoist? My brother teaches mechanics at our local high school & we plan on taking the car over this weekend to change oil, etc. What should I be weary of? Any issues?

thanks

oh... by the way I love this place more & more everyday!

yes you can - the thing to watch out for is the body panels wrap around the underside and it is easy to place the lift where it could be on top of the plastic palen instead of on the frame - not a good thing if you are the plastic!

Many owners use hockey pucks to prevent jacks from touching the body panels - they would work for lifts as well.

Actually the GM hockey pucks are designed for use with a lift not a jack. Two placed in the rear shipping slots provide space to keep the lift from contacting the body panel. You do not need to use them in the front since there is enough room around the shipping slot to keep a well placed lift pad from touching the body panel. To be on the safe side I use 4 when I put my car up on my lift.
