2000 Coupe. Turn signals quit working. Need help!!
I have a 2000 model coupe. I have been having problems with the turn signals, they will work for awhile and then will quit. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for the help!
Try turning your emergency lights on (the button next to the A/C vent in the center dash). When the emer lights blink, then your turn signals should start working again. Mine does the same thing when it is very humid (not very often here in the SW Texas desert).
As strange as it sounds, the hazard switch is the root of problems with the turn signals. It's common for the turn signals to work intermittently. Sometimes you're able to reset the signals by pressing the hazard switch on-and-off, turning ignition off-and-on, or even banging the top of the dash over the hazard switch. But eventually, the doggone thing gives up the ghost and you need to replace it or have it replaced. Pulling the dash isn't that complicated, just time consuming. Big bucks if you have to pay for the labor. I recall a thread where someone went in after pulling the radio (not the dash.) Search function may find that for you. Good Luck!
It has been said by some VERY RELIABLE forum members that you can service that switch without removing the dash pad by removing the stereo and assessing the switch from that area!

Can't take credit for being "very reliable," but I can tell you this switch can be replaced without pulling the dash. If the problem is temporarily 'fixed' by hitting the hazard switch on the center of the dash, then it's likely the cause of the turn signal issue since that switch works both the hazards and the turn signals. The switch is about $30 and it'll take you 1-2 hours to do the job. I wrote instructions on how to do it, and I'll go see now if I can find them.

i did the flasher change by following steve's instructions and it worked great for me. i removed the radio, the hvac control and got to the flasher from underneath. You have to show some care with your "whacks" but the process is pretty straight-forward. Set aside a couple of hours for the project and take you time.
Mine started doing that intermittently during a trip to the FL Keys. Next time it happens, Ill hit the emergency flashers to see if it resolves. Thx for the post.
The whole job took me about and hour - I am stupid happy!
Thanks again

Thanks for the kind words. Oddly enough, I became allergic to beer in my old age! So, you have it.
As far as being "stupid happy," I still recall how excited I was just using the dumb turning signal after I got it working again. It was easy to see how I missed it beforehand. Funny how something so incidential can live in the psyche. So, go drive down the road and signal back and forth endlessly until it's out of your system.
