Jeff, I open them on the street all the time - just need to be reasonable about it.

VetteDrmr, below is a link to a webpage I did on the install. They are actually variable in the amount you can open them but beyond about halfway, they are as good as full open in terms of the volume. There are a few videos a ways down the page. I initially went with McCords but switched to QTP's after some harness problems. The QTP's are of better quality.

Derek, sound is excellent - the reason I did these actually. Performance change wasn't noticeable with heads/cam/headers/gears/etc. Maybe a dyno will show it. A couple of guys here have reported 10-20rwhp improvement but I can't confirm or deny.

I remember the older cutouts would burn the gaskets after a few uses. What do these use for sealing when closed and are they likely to start leaking from being used?

For some reason your website is not working when I click on the price link. What is the ballpark price for the material (cutouts, wiring, etc) only? no labor.

Patches,
I was visiting you link... wow! it sounds great. I was looking at possibly buying a new exhuast system (Z06 titanium or aftermarket), but the cutouts would be the best of both worlds. I'm sold!!!!

Thanks,

its about 320 dollars for everything besides labor. They are loud but not as loud as slp loudmouth becuase the exhuast goes out the bottom. I know a guy with slp loudmouth which is pretty much striaght pipes and his is louder than mine when i was stock. But now with a cam they are a must, i have it loud most of the time but sometimes it gets annoying and i just turn em off and exhuast goes through stock system.

Any way that the cutouts could harm the engine?

Has anyone done this to a set of LG headers?

Dope: have you done a dyno with the cutouts open vs closed? The way yours are installed, I would think you would get some hp gains.

Also, where did you buy the McCords? any problems with them closing/opening?

I bought the McCords because I had used them on 2 cars previously. Keith has the best customer service (on par with Thunder racing, DTE, etc) and his cutouts were nearly half the cost of QTP's. Can't really beat that.

Haven't dynoed it, car is stored for the winter. I expect ~10-15rwhp (stock Ti exhaust after the cutouts which flows very well).

I have the QTP QTEC electric cut outs, extremely well made pieces and very reliable, the ONLY cut out I would ever buy.

They will not harm the engine at all. Doing this is about the same as putting a free flowing exhuast on your car, except you have the ability to turn them off and on. I have them with my headers and i love having the ability to make it quiet anytine i want.
