Default NGK TR55 OR NGK TR55ix ??????????????

I am running the delco plat plugs now. The referalls seem to lead towards the ngk but for the TR55 OR TR55IX? There is a huge differance in price. I know the ix is an iridium plug. I'm going to change the wires to probably to the msd's. Thanx in advance for the response.

When I was researching this question, I ended up finding different gapping recommendations for the NGK TR55IXs. Anywhere from 40 to 60 thousandths. Even called NGK. I ended up just buying the AC Delco 41-985 Iridiums. Factory OEM on Corvettes now and recommended for all C5s. They come pre-gapped at .040. Paid $5.95 each at Bumper-to-Bumper.

If whatever is in it now has worked okay for a reasonable length of time, why not replace with the same? There is no "magic" plug, anyway, as long as the heat range is correct for the application and usage, and it's gapped appropriately.

All the best.

The Delco irridium and NGK irridium are virtually the same. The new gap recommended is 40 thousands.

For both LS-1 and LS-6 engines? I thought I remember a thread a month ago suggesting different gapping for different engines or different year engines.

go copper. the iridiums made my car run rougher, sluggish throttle response, and on top of that they didn't last but maybe 10k mi.

TR55's fixed those problems 4 me

I switched from the stock Platinum plugs & wires to the NGK TR55ix's and MSD wires and I noticed that the engine ran slighty smoother at idle as well as through the RPM band, not as much shaking-jerking @ idle etc, I would recommed them!
