Default Disconnect Odometer?

I am looking at buying this guys corvette, but the car looks like it has 100,000 miles on it and the car shows 9,000 miles. Is it possible that this guy disconnected the odometer? In most cars, you can pull the dashboard fuse in the fuse box, but I don't think that is possible on vettes. Any thoughts?

I've read where it was feasible to do disconnect the odometer/speedo on a C5 with an M6. Don't know why it was easier than an A4, but that's how it was presented. Is this car M6 or A4?

This car is an automatic. How does one do that? Pull the fuse? Where did you read this?

You can also replace the cluster, I always thought the mileage was in one of the modules (PCM or BCM) but recently a friend did a hud conversion on his car and I found out the mileage is stored inside the cluster so that cluster may have come from a low mileage Corvette.

but like Johhny said that would be highly illegal and immoral

What does Carfax say about it???

I have not done the carfax yet. Good idea. So how can he replace the cluster? Isn't that quit an ordeal? I thought he might have been able to pull the fuse to the computer or somthing.

A Toggle switch on the Vehicle Speed Sensor will Bypass any problems such as Codes going off on the DIC (SES) and would be a clean and discreet way to hide such a Bad thing .

If it looks like a 100K miles car, I would stay away or pay 100K miles price.

Sid is giving good advice. Walk away if the car has not be taken care of...It is a pig no matter what the mileage.

Sounds to me like you might be interested in disconnecting your own speedometer.
