My 97 senior citizen for a C5, squeaks like crazy, I'm guessing that the squeaks are the rear suspension bushings, the Chevy dealer will not sell the bushings, they sell the 'A' arm assemblies with bushings. I do not race so I don't think I need the Poly bushings that tend to squeak. Any other fix?

I have seen many posts on this, bushing squeak, seems the common solution is to lubricate with a synthetic grease. Synthetic because the normal grease will break down the bushing. My 98 front squeaks depending on the weather.

More than likely it is Not your upper control arm bushings, This is a common problem. You probably have dry sway arm bushings... there is a fiber like material on the inside diameter of the sway bar bushings..just remove the bolts holding the bushing clamps.. remove the bushings taking note of their position within the clamps. You will see the area where the sway bars flex within the bushing to be dry and rusted...sand p[aper the rust off the bushings and paint, clean the rubber bushing up and apply some silicone grease, found at any auto parts store.. do not use any Petro type grease.. reassemble using the proper torque. You have four bushings two fronts, and two rears...
Front bushing torque 58 N-m 43 ft lbs.
Rear bushing upper 65 N-m 49 ft lbs.
Rear bushing lower 95 N-m 70 ft lbs.

No need to take anything off.

Get a good can of silicone spray, use the little red straw and spray the hell out of all the rubber you can find, even the exhaust rubber mounts. I did this 6 months ago. Have zero squeaks since. Use about 1/2 can of ZEP silicone spray.

I'm with ET. Silicone spray has never worked on my swaybar bushings.

I had a rear lower control arm bushing go bad. I tried spraying it with everything, nothing seemed to work more than a couple of days. I had to replace the arm. I picked up a used one from Gene at Karshop. http://www.geneskarshop.com/
