Drill Mod for Master line ??
I know on the F-bodys you can drill the master line with a 1/8 drill bit to take out the restrictor to allow more fluid to the slave cylinder. is this possible on a c5???? i heard there is a 90 degree fitting there and it can not be done??? im having problems getting the car to **** in to 3rd at high rpm....

If this works for C5s, I know what my next mod is! I'm all about driveability with occasional outbursts of acceleration and grins!!!
I thought I was just getting sloppy with some of my shifts, but now I read that there's a chance it's a design restriction!
Anyone do this mod on C5s???

I searched high and low for this info. I had done it in my ws6. However, I bought a McLeod Master for my vette...it is night and day! WAAAY faster shifts, I have not missed one yet with it. I went a bit sideways going into 4th the day I tested it out. They are a bit pricey, and the engagement point narrows a bit, but it is well worthwhile.

Robert's right. There are three, two are easy to get to and drill out, one is a beetch. Two years ago, when my clutch got the lazy pedal, I got 02 Zo6 pieces (which still have all three restrictors) and paid a hydraulics repair shop $50 to drill them out and reassemble. It was worth it. No more problems after 2 years of "spirited" driving, including drag racing.

I wish I knew all the stuff Robert knows. I went through a couple months of frustration with my car not being able to shift at high rpm about a year ago.
I replaced my 200 master cylinder with a McLeod unit and I have had zero problems for a year now.

I don't think the "drill mod" is applicable on a C5.....Maybe someone else can chime in here, but I don't believe GM put the restriction in the C5 hydraulics like they did with the F-Body's. I have had all of the hydraulic lines apart on my car and didnt see any type of restrictive area. Even the 90' elbow had at least a .125 orifice if I recall. (GM's restriction in the F-Body is somewhere around .065 or so).
The McCloed should help as it has a slightly larger bore and will displace more fluid in the same length of pedal stroke helping to dis-engage the clutch a bit faster. On the flip side, there should be a slight increase in pedal pressure as well.

Not true. As RWJ stated there are four. One in the slave and three in the hard line between the master and quick disconnect (I believe). If you get RWJ's document you will see them. This was all too much labor for me so the only one I can vouch for is the restriction in the slave.
It may be easier to just use a drilled out F-Body Master braided line if they are available separately from the master itself. I also remember hearing about people who have put adapters on 4 AN lines to take the place of the hard line.

mcleod master is 300 from thunder racing but i have heard lots of problems with the seals. my tuner will not offer a warrenty on the master if its a mcleod master. i am going to keep my stock and try the drill mod.
