Default 02 sensor code/Key code

My car has been sitting in the garage for about 3 months with the battery taken out. Today I reinstalled the battery and the car fired right up and ran a scan of the DIC to see if any codes came up. This one did:
P0161 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 2

This came up as a current code so I cleared it and cycled through twice and it did not come up again. I plan on installing 02 sims and Off Road pipes when the weather breaks, so my question is this: do the sims take the place of the Bank 2 sensors? Do you think the code was thrown because of the battery?
Also, the dreaded "Remove key and wait 10 seconds" message came up after shutting off and restarting the first time. It did not come up again after a couple cycles. Should I be concerned about the column lock?

Battery replacement can surface some strange codes! I would clear all codes and monitor! I would also not be too concerned!

Thanks Bill. Car will be sitting again for another month at least, so we'll see what happens then. I've also gotten some guidance from Patches as well. Counting the days till spring!!

The O2 sims only eliminate the after the CAT sensors. You still need to run the before the CAT 02 sensors.

The heated O2 sensors are grounded on the engine at Ground G-105, That ground is on the drivers side of the block, below the head about where the rear of the starter would be on the OTHER side. The engine is jumpered to the chasses ground at G-103 G-103 is on top of the frame, almost directly below the brake master cylinder. It is an eyelet type ground. For some reason, that ground gets nasty quickly. It will more than likley be rusted.

Recommend spraying it down with WD-40, wire brushing it, and disassenbling it. Clean the eyelet and the frame where it connects. I believe that should fix your O2 sensor issue. It fixed mine.
