Although I don't doubt the authenticity of that document, nor do I question that Redline makes a good oil, but I seriously question why it isn't on Redline's website, but this one is instead: http://www.redlineoil.com/whitePaper/motoroils.pdf
Is it possible that they were challenged on this report and had to pull it?
I'm wondering about the validity of the test method of testing virgin oil, then putting it in a motor where its zinc and phosphorus are used up as they bond with the engine (the Ford in this case) then retesting it. How much of the AMSOILs anti-wear additives are still in the Ford motor protecting it? Does this test show us that if you essentially take out the anti-wear additives (they are left behind in the engine the oil was drained from) that the Redline's performs better than AMSOIL? But how fair a test is that? When you pour a bottle of AMSOIL in your motor, the anti-wear additives are in it.
Well I haven't had much experience with amsoil. But I have seen what redline's setup doesn't do to bearings. We started pulling apart a race motor with over 14 weekends on it. They have always used redline and the motor looked perfect. The bearings were just great, the pistions only had a few marks on them. The motor was just clean as could be. This is not the first motor that we have been in after many of hard track miles, with great results using redline. We have used redline for years with never any troubles due to oil break down or anything related to the oil. I even put redline in my lawn mower, racing kart but not my daily driver(it burns too much oil 230,000 miles).
If your going to do a test how about throwing in a little Royal Purple, I see more and more guy's using this in their trans and rear ends and swearing by it.
For me Redline is the best. I use Redline MTL in the MN6 and Redline 75W90 in the rearend.
Why? Because I've used that combo in my '88 IROC-Z for the last 12 years and after 362,000 miles everything is fine. The posi rear still works!! (both wheels hook up)
I use Mobil 1 in the engine. The Redline motor oil is too expensive.
