Default WTB: HUD Bezel/Switch/harness

I picked up a used HUD projector and now need the other bells and whistles. I need the projector bezel that goes on the dash, as well as the switch and harness that connects the switch and projector.

thx

HUD Projector Bezel - 10425223 - (GM LIST: $25.52)
HUD Switch - Part # 12198648 (GM LIST: $124.04)

These are from GM Parts Direct dot com. (their price is substantially less than those listed above)

Are you saying that the projector you have does not have a harness already attached to it?

its has an 8 wire pig tail, but not the 11 wire harness referenced in http://joshker99.home.comcast.net/hudinstall2.htm

nice prices on gmpartdirect.com. I was figuring on paying that much for salvage parts...

Look here. HUD Fred Beans has no handling charge. GMParts Direct does.

I sent Josh an email about a week ago and haven't heard back. Does anyone know if he is still in the HUD harness business?

He does.. give him some time, he'll reply.. I almost gave in and bought one but I just couldn't see spending that much on such a simple wiring harness. So I found a connector that would fit the switch side and just made my own harness. I desoldered the cluster side connector and soldered the harness into it's existing spot. Worked out well.. and it was free

I thought about trying that. Where did you find the connector? I was guessing I could find something at Fry's and build my own as well.

The connector I had laying around in one of my parts bins. I'm not sure what the P/N was. It's a fairly common 2.5 or 2.54mm spacing, friction mount type connector.. You could probably even get a free sample from Amp or Molex too

I removed and soldered the wires directly into the cluster side because that connector was a little harder to find. I guess you could even solder the wires directly into the switch side too if took it apart.

I have the high res pics showing the wiring layout to and from the switch and cluster if you need them.
