There have been various threads on this subject. Patches has posted belt layout diagrams, so you can see how to correctly reinstall the belts. It's relatively simple to do. Put a breaker bar and 15mm socket (if I remember correctly) on the tensioner nut and push toward the engine to release pressure on the belt, then slip it off. Reverse the proceedure to install. Check your pulleys to make sure they're free and turning smooth and the vibration damper for wobble.
I'm about to change both of my belts, anything I should know prior to doing this? The lower belt seems hard to get to.

This is pretty much straight forward. On the alternator belt I had an easier time working partly under the car to get to the tensioner and on top to remove/install. Depending on the age of car you may want to change the tensioner, the do losen up over time. My 96 Tahoe's tensioner left this world at around 90,000 miles, which looks similar to my 98 vette.
