undefinedundefinedundefinedI have a 2003 convertible and I want to get more air into the air cleaner. Does anyone know where to drill holes to get the air in easier? What size holes? Do I drill them in the top of the air cleaner cover or the bottom?
Buy a Z06 air box cover. It has a bigger opening and will look a lot nicer than a cut up box. You can probably get a used one from someone who put in an aftermarket air system.

I would not drill holes in the bottom side of the airbox. (That is the dirty side).
I would recommend a Z06 airbox lid...
or for even more reduction in restriction the zip-tie modification. (No airbox lid - you just risk the potential for water intrusion). If you worry about hydorlocking the motor then I would go with the Z06 airbox lid.
If you will send me your email address, I will send you pictures of my Z06 Air Filter Cover modification. It is very easy to do and will put more and colder air into your engine.

You may also want to consider putting an aftermarket intake on the car. The Halltech is a good one because it also comes with a larger air bridge, but the Donaldson Blackwing is just basically a large air filter that mounts on the end of the maf. Better flow than the stock setup and easy to replace. Plus you get a little extra hp for your trouble!

Did this on my 02 vert. The Z06 box I ordered from GM parts direct was inexpensive and the opening is probably 10x the size of the stock C5 cover. Takes 10 minutes to install.
I have a complete 2001 Z06 air box that I will sell you for $30. I was going to install it on my 98 coupe but sold it before I could install it. I have no use for it.
I did the zo6 air box on my 2002 vert and added a k&n filter. About a week later I cut out another 25% from the air box with a dremel tool. Big difference from stock.
