Default Trying to install factory cd changer, HELP!

I have an early production '97, and I am attempting to install a factory 12 disc changer. Bought the wiring harness from Bob at Fitchners, ran it from back to footwell, thats where I'm lost. Found the 4 prong connector, found "A" 3 prong connector (not the same type of connector) with orange wire, black wire, and a yellow wire. I believe I am looking for an orange, black and dark green? I have had everything out of footwell, fuse block, BCM, etc. I might be blind , but come on. I followed the 4 prong up to where it comes out of wire loom and nothing. Any ideas other than give up!

Thanks

I do not believe they ran a pigtail from the radio to the foot well until 2000 or 2001. Before I bought and installed mine I talked with a Chevy Tech at the Nashville event and he told me they didn't have the pigtail run in the earlier C5s and I was lucky as I have a 2002.

Do a forum search. I remember seeing pics of the two connectors under the footwell and that pic is what I used to successfully get my changer installed. The second connector IIR was halfway along the passenger floorboard if that helps...

I installed a changer in my 02Z06 and took some pics of the wires and connector.
The small plug that you are looking for is taped to the large conector wiring harness with white tape. If it is there it is difficult to see.

I have pictures of the install at home. if you need them PM me.

I have installed the Changer in both a 99 and an 02.The plugs on the 99 were different.I cut one of the plugs off on the 99 and just soldered the wires and shrink wrapped them. All C5s with Bose systems accept the harness at the pass side footwell. It's the plugs that are different on the early C5s.The harness plugs matched on my 02 Z06
Good Luck

I have a 99 and did the factory changer install. The plug was hard as heck to find even thought I knew where it was. It took me 20 mintues to find it. It was plug and play. No cutting or changing anything. Look really really hard. I found it very very well hidden. It's just like Bill Curley says, It has a small piece of white tape, but really well hidden and I mean well hidden.

Good luck

Check the "tech tips" section of the forum.

there is a write up on CD Changer install for early C5's, the '97 and '98's did not come with the 3 wire connector, just the 4 wire connector was in the passenger side footwell.
you need to hard wire the 3 wire connector into the fuse panel. you may also have to swap 2 wires in the 4 wire connector. when I installed mine, I had a nasty distortion comming from the front sub woofers, it turned out to be 2 wires in the changer harness needed to be swapped.
if you look at the wires in the 4 wire connector after it's plugged into the connector in the footwell, check to make sure that the ground wires are in the right places.

the green wire is the "data" wire.
