John, you can drill them, but I recommend waiting till it's off the car so you don't have the risk of getting metal shavings in the bushings, and so you can round off the drilled holes on both sides....they'll be stress risers if left sharp....do you want your control arm to crack?

Aluminum castings crack worse than forgings. Cracks grow at an exponential rate, so it doesn't matter that it's small because it'll grow REALLY FAST!

I would drill mine with no worries. Small hole, heavy casting.

John, I haven't tried it yet, but if I get a chance to do that project, I'll let you know!

John, What you want to do is clean the inside and outside of the hole, deburring as we call it in the airline world.

If you can find one that will fit inside of the arm, just turn it with your fingers.

You could also just take some sandpaper to smooth out the inside of the hole.

Ecklers is about $45 more than VBP.

VBP has a 10% off discount. I'll call ecklers and see if they will match the price.

Pic from both sites is the same.

Default suspension bushings

I'm in the middle of changing rear bushings right now, ordered bushing s from valentine, (discount arm of Ecklers) Got bushings with out the steel sleeve insert in them, didn't order them that way, they just came that way. mmmmmm, what a problem, factory bushings are molded onto the steel sleeve insert and you HAVE to cut, wittle, or do what ever you have to to remove the steel sleeves to install the new urethane bushings witch didn't come with them. I looked on line at Harbour Freight to see what tool he ordered and I don't think that tool will work that way. Looked around shop and I found some kind of gear puller to press out the old bushings, worked well. Looks like a small steering wheel puller.
Wonder why he taking out torque tube? I had to take mine out to replace broken coupler. When coupler broke at 135mph it did sojme damage so I replaced the whole torque tube. Chuck

Hope you got a good deal on those.

Taking the driveshaft out to inspect the 2 rear bearings that a few with the newer (01-04) driveshaft design have had problems with. I still can't find anyone with a 01 or newer C5 that has had rubber coupler problems.

Hope you upgraded to the newer TT/driveshaft.
