My '01's targa top pops when I have it on. If I unlock the rear lock on it while driving down the road, it stops popping.
I took the top off and removed the plastic piece around the latch. I checked the screws that hold it on and they were all tight. Next I took some silicone dielectric grease and greased the weather strips. That didn't do much of anything.
I'm not sure how to remove the plastic parts inside the car to see if there's a problem. Is there some sort of tool? Has anyone done this?
mine did the same. Take the driverside latch and pull it like your going to unlatch it, but only "unlatch it" like 1/4 inch. Made mine stop, hope it helps
Thanks. I'll try that but the popping is coming from the rear of the top, not the front. I'm suprised this is not more common (or maybe everyone plays the stereo louder).
At the back of the removable top are two metal posts. Install some heat shrinkable tubing (available at electronics stores) over the posts and shrink the tubing carefully with a lighter or match. This should help a lot.
