Bad Wheel Bearing - How Tuff to replace?
I believe my left rear wheel bearing is shot.
I think the cartridge costs about $700 complete.
Is it possible to replace just the bearings?
How tough is it?
Who sells the bearings.
GM will only sell the complete assembly.
Anybody been there, done that?
Thanks

Temken sells the bearing complete for less the $175... then all you do is bolt it in... the rears are easy to replace compared to the fronts... hopefully someone will come along here and tell you where to order the temken bearing.

Timken bearing/hub assys can be ordered through Autozone for approx. $150 ea.
Note, for later year C5's ('03, '04) the Autozone computer may stated that the bearing/hub assy is not available, but the bearing/hub assy is the same for all C5s.

Great Info
Thanks Guys,
That's just what I wanted to hear.
Thanks for the link to JakeLatham, I printed his tutorial
I guess I had the mistaken assumption that the bearings could not be seperated from the cartridge without damage.
Thanks again.
