Default How to put fluid into differential

What are ya'll using to do this? I will have to drain and refill after my break in of the new gears. I've looked everywhere for that IV bag deal but can't find it. It was easy when the car was apart but since it will be together I figure it will be a little more difficult.

Do you think an enema bag would work? I came up with that by searching on Ebay. There are those fluid pumps on Ebay as well but I am a little skeptical of those. Is there some type of fluid gun like a grease gun?

It's really simple.. Just go to AutoZone (or whatever you have locally) and buy one of those <$10 gear lube pumps.. Works great.

another trick is to place a lentgh of clear plastic tubing on the bottles spout and squeeze the fluid into the differential... through the tubing.

An hour or so after posting this I figured out the keywords "suction gun". That's what I need. Going to New Orleans this weekend so I'll stop by Harbor Freight. They have some cheap ones.

Home Depot has one too, hooks up to your drill and fills the diff in no time. Works great for the trans too.

Don't overly complicate a simple process. The $7-$10 fluid pump from any auto parts store is the way to go.

Yup. It's what is also referred to as a "Hycar" type pump. Simple metal tube with a hand operated plunger and a clear vinyl hose on one end. A company by the name of Plews has been making them for years. The one I have works great. HTH

I used a $12 suction pump to do my trans & diff today. Pretty simple job.

Creative use for an enema bag I must say. Just wait 'till your wife catches you under the car with that!

If you have an air compressor:
Drill two holes in the top of the fluid bottle and inset the two lengths of clear tubing. Make sure one lenght goes to the bottom of the bottle> put that tube into the fill hole on the rear/trans. Push the other hose end into your air gun and very gently pressurize the bottle. Works slick. I have used this to pump rear end fluid, gear oil and all sorts of thick and thin fluids.

Yea, I'd have to order the enema bag online because there is no way I'd actually go into a store and buy one of those. I did go to New Orleans this weekend and stopped by harbor frieght and picked up a couple of suction guns.

Default Fluid exchange...

Auto Zone and Pep boys have .com inventory for online orders. Both have several ways to handle exchange.

AMSOIL Hand Pump for Bottles part# G2039

Fits AMSOIL quart bottles, 1-gallon containers and 2.5-gallon containers. Guarantees efficient, quick dispensing of AMSOIL gear oils, transmission fluids and any oil that may need to be pumped. Great for fluid fills in differentials, transmissions, transaxles, boat lower units and boat sterndrives. $9.95

A friend of mine helped me change out my rear diff fluid yesterday. The hand pump worked great! BTW, make sure you have a 10 mm allen wrench.
