Since I've had to use the vette in the cold winter as my winter car crapped out, the active handling takes time to warm up. If you pull away, before warmed up, you get a service active handling until you restart (and I guess reset). Is this common? Temps about 25 degrees.
i'm interested too. i had never had the service active handling light pop on till after my h/c job. maybe it just needs to warm up??? but then again, i ALWAYS let the car warm up. :/
mine came on today--along with the chimes--for the first time
but i'm suspicious, because i was in a very small parking lot, jocking around to get lined up to go out again....i was trying to put it in reverse, but it ended up in 5th (i do that all the time), and when i let the clutch out a little, that's when it went off
later i shut the engine off for a few minutes to read the manual.....i turned it back on, drove for a while, and it hasn't come back on again...so i'm thinking it was a false alarm
I have been getting the service active handeling warning, it goes away when i turn off the car and restart it, but it has been occuring more often and just the other day I got a service vehicle soon warning also. I guess it is time to bring it too the dealer and get things checked out.
Pleas check the DIC for any stored codes. If you find codes write them down and clear them. Take the car for a drive and see if the problem still exists. If it hapens again, check for codes and write them down again and post them here again.
If I can see the error code we can point you in the right direction.

Don't drive mine much in the winter but get the "Active Handling Warming Up" on the DIC. I keep driving...It goes away when warm. No problem.

There have been so many posts on this that I had to find out what GM was up to with this message.
The below is true of all vehicles with stability control, but most don't bother with the message.
During the 1998 model year, just prior to production of cars with the Active Handling option, the Corvette's ABS brake hydraulic control unit was relocated to the front of the engine compartment to facilitate quicker Active Handling system "warm-up" and shorten front brake response time when the brake fluid is cold.
In temperatures below 14oF, the Corvette's Driver Information Center (DIC) will display an "Active Handling Warming Up" message as soon as the vehicle reaches 6-mph. That's a caution to the driver that Active Handling is not fully-functional yet. As soon as the system warms up, another message "Active Handling Warmed Up" will be sent to the driver via the DIC.
FYI: The normal industry standard is a response time of 100-150ms (millisecond) with a maximum response time of 300ms at -20 F. This is with both DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids.
Why the "Service" message pops up is still a mystery. My informed guess, and just a guess for now, is that if you accelerate too quickly then the service message appears.
But I can't find a comprehensive write up specifically on the Corvette AH system.
I took the car to the dealer . Code C1288 they hooked it up to the tech 2 and the EBCM Module was not communicating with the tech 2. They replaced the EBCM. Glad I have an aftermarket warrenty the ECBM #12216561 RETAIL'S FOR $935.
