Default how much rwhp do I need

My buddy just put a stage 3 turbo kit on his srt-4. he dynoed 332hp at the front wheels and is trapping at 117mph. what kind of rwhp will my 6-speed 3.42 reared convertible need to get there? I cant believe the performance stuff mopar puts out for their cars. hes added 140 front wheel hp to his 4 cyl. real cheap and got everything from mopar. the way chevy is pushing its performance image on tv it would be nice to have some factory backed go fast stuff.

You shouldn't be too far off of his #'s Get yourself some headers, exhaust and a dynotune and your car should be close if not past his #. Then as you stated cost is a different factor. You could always boost with nitrous!

What about his times? Is he using drag tires?
Just tell him to go to a couple of more practice runs. It'll blow soon

Dude, your car should be putting out just a hair shy of 300 stock at the rear wheels. Add a set of headers and cam and you'll be past him.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of torque does a 332HP 4 cylinder produce?

Blackwing, no MAF screen, synthetic MAF ends, 80mm BBK TB, LS6 intake (on a 2000 convertible), X-pipe, Corsa Indy catbacks, no tune =

337rwhp/339rwtq or about 375 at the crank with the MN6.

Hey guys,

I'm just guessing you probably don't know a lot of SRT-4 guys. A stage 3 SRT-4 w/ toys, good driver, and a drag tires is good for 11.7's-12.0's. You gotta remember the 332 at the wheels is on a car with a lower weight then a z06 by a few hundred pounds. The original poster is currently run 12.9's with intake and exhaust. So I would say, get some 3.90's/4.10's, headers, tune, and some drag radials / or a 100 shot and drag radials and you should be with him or beating him.

your going to have to put down more rwhp than him. figure a 03 z06 puts down 350-360rwhp and traps 114-117mph depending on the track, wheather and driver. plus your car is heavier than a z06. your going to need 390-400rwhp to be safe. get all the bolt ons and a nice cam and you'll be in good shape.

your going to need a lot from a stock vette to come close. sorry. the SRT-4's are powerful little cars

i just got back from a dyno day with the SRT-4 guys and i was amazed. these guys with simple mods were putting down 275rwhp!

Just out of curiousity, what kind of torque does a 332HP 4 cylinder produce?
torque?! im guessing plenty!! i was sooo surprised that the neons today were putting out over 290ft. lbs.!! impressive for little 4 cylinders huh?!

oh... and im at 335rwhp and im trapping 115. thats with headers and intake. you are going to need a head/cam package along with all the bolt-ons!

yeah im guessing around 400rwhp to make up for the weight. i take him out of the hole cause he cant hook at all on his showy super low profile tires but you cant believe how that thing pulls on the top end. Ive driven it and the tourque is there i think he was at 297. granted i think its a grenade waiting to blow but who knows? i just wish chevy backed go fast stuff like mopar does. everything hes done has been mopar.

Stage 3? whoa.. they are fast. I've raced a stage 1 and a stage 2 SRT-4 and they were pretty quick. I toasted the stage 1 and the stage 2 was more of a challange but i got him from a dig. your going to need head/cam and bolton's like the others have said. good luck

100 dry kit will solve your hp/tq problems with the srt4 all for about a grand.
