Default Pull key, wait ten seconds....

I had the column lock problem a year ago and they had to replace the column lock motor after 'the fix' didn't fix it.....it's been fine since but last night I got the Pull key message....this time I waited the ten seconds and it started OK. Do I have a another problem waiting to happen again or is this normal every once in awhile....the engineer who designed the clm lock should be bisected into 3 equal quarters and then horsewhipped.

Im wondering if my drive home was my 'one shot' and now it will probably lock again for good if I try to start it now. Also, what does the cl bypass do, permanently leave the wheel unlocked?
Can't I just have the dealer remove the whole column lock mechanism and just run without it?

Everything you need to know about column locks is in the sticky at the top of the C5 TECH page.
You cannot just remove the column lock mechanism without doing something electrically to satisfy the feedback required by the BCM. OR else.....>

This happens every once in a while. By the way, there are other reasons for the "Pull Key and Wait 10 Seconds" message. Sometimes related to the pellet on your key. I would just drive it and not worry about it, but only if I had the CLB installed or the dealer recall done if you have an A4.

I got the CLB after suddenly getting Pull Key messages about every 3 days. I also tried the key cleaning, etc. first. Stopped after the CLB was installed. I don't know why this did it, but it did.

CLB $50 from thunder racing last time I checked.. Do it and forget about it. And it's easy to install..

Having GM replace junk with junk won't help, as you've seen first hand.

What is the point of horsewhipping after bisecting into three equal quarters? Always horsewhip first!

PS- I got a clb from thunderracing for my mn6 04 coupe. Its great, comes with the type screwdriver you need and took about 20 minutes to put in. You no longer have to sit in fear waiting for that little electronic zip.

I live in Denison,Texas just about 60 miles north of Dallas, do you have a place you take you vette to as far as a tune etc. in that area or do you live in another part of Texas?
Also this column thing has me about ready to sell my 2003 Z06, I am serious here, I may say a few things to lighten the worry now and then but I can't get my mind off of the colum locking at 120 or so.

Thanks

I got the Pull Key message after putting on my new wheels and retraining the tire sensors. Freaked me out cuz I already have a CLB. No problems after the initial message.
