Default Lowered my car today

I followd G-Man's write up in the tech section. It was pretty simple but I was a little surprised doing the rear when after getting the rear of the ground with a jack--under the crossmember and loosening the first monoleaf bolt, it flung apart. The spring was still under pressure even with both tires off the ground and a jack under the cross member. Both sides were that way and I used a second jack to keep the spring in place to reinstall the bolt. Anybody else run into this?

G-man failed to add the most important step:once the vehicle is jacked up and supported using a second jack you must unload the force on the leaf on each side, makes it alot easier to turn the bolt and it's alot safer.

Just did mine... didnt unload the spring but I think I unscrewed the bolts holding the spring to the crossmember first, I didnt see the same problem as you. Dont know if the order of disassembly is relevent or not

Sorry to hijack , but I have 27"rear and 27"front ...they are Z06 springs with the rubber cut right down. What do Z06 springs generally settle to on the front?

I realized that after the first one I did. Someone may want to edit that so no one gets hurt.

How do you like those springs? What did they cost you?

I actually took the vette out on Sunday to try and get them the settle a bit more... driving down the road weaving like an F1 car getting heat into the tires. The difference is like night and day between stock and Z06 suspension. The car is sitting low and flat around corners, I am VERY happy with the Z06 setup.

Cost was $0 for the springs because I was researching a conformal coating for GM and they sent some springs for testing

Highly unlikely anyone will get hurt unless your made out of glass. The monospring will only jump abot 3/4 of an inch when the nut is removed. It is not like it is going to pinch anything, it is moving the opposite direction.

The only reason you remove the bolt is if you are cutting the bushings.
