I think I may have nicked my output shaft seal and have noticed a little leak coming from my passenger side of the differential where the wheel driveshaft stabs into the diff. I haven't removed just the shaft before. Is there any hidden tricks to it? Maybe I didn't seat it all the way when I put the diff back in but I'm going to install a new seal anyway. Thanks in advance! On my way home and by the dealer now.

Remove wheels. Disconnect the upper control arm from the chassis (2 18mm bolts at the top), and the upper shock from the chassis (2 13mm bolts again, at the top). Now you should have some slack. Literally yank the top of the rear spindle/brake assembly hard a few times and it'll pop the half-shaft out of the differential. Viola.
Putting it back in is a little bit tricky. Nothing special to it but it can be a pain getting the splines to line up and getting your arms in there and putting pressure on the halfshaft to 'pop' it in..
Didn't feel like waiting any longer for replies but ended up doing it pretty much like Dope said. Didn't take more than 30 min. Piece of cake. My seal looked good but I went ahead and replaced it anyway. Hope it cures the leak.
my little rocket leaks also (both sides)...thanks for the how too...
question....i over heard somebody talking about a "newer" seal for the diff's...one that lasts longer...anybody heard or know of this???
who makes it...where to buy it??? part numbers???
thanks,
dan
