Default g5x3 114lsa

well, my car is currently getting this cam installed. I've done alot of research and from what everybody sais is that the 114 lsa will not need fly cutting. I'm running the prc dual valve spring cam kit good to .660 lift. I'm thinking my car will be fine with those valve springs, but I want opinions.
will I have any problems with piston clearance??

thanks

Adam

Those are good springs, same as the Patriot Golds. I have them on my 408 & 346. No issues.

I have this cam with stock LS1 heads with no clearance issues. You are going to love this cam! They will be turning their heads at the gas pumps, and stop lights!

ls6 intake, vararam, tpis long tube headers, borla straight pipes, and a granatelli maf that came with the car when i bought it that the tuner complained about. I'll get the car back fri, so I will post the dyno sheet.
this car will still have the stock crank pulley, and the stock h pipe.......and about the h pipe the tuner calls me up and asks me "who the hell tryed to cut the h pipe and put langes on the header and connect it? it looks like gabage" so that is how I still have the h pipe with the long tube headers. if any body knows where I can get a catted x pipe with the random tech cats let me know.

thanks for the input guys, this makes me feel better.

You are going to love this cam. You wont want to stop driving your car. I almost went with the x2 cuz the numbers with the x3 scared me a little considering its my daily driver. Be prepared to turn heads, attract cops, and get cramps in your face from smiling so much. Cam is extremely streetable, no issues here. Ive got the G5X3 on a 114 with comp 921s, titanium retainers, chromoly pushrods, blackwing, power duct, LG longtubes with offroad x-pipe and borla catback. Car put down 380 rwhp without the intake and borla exhaust. Your car will sound NASTY with the straight pipes. Car feels kinda weak under 3000rpm but once you hammer it above that, pulls like a freight train. Feels like the higher the rpms the more it pulls. Never falls off in power. Idle is somewhat choppy. Mine is set at 1k, but sounds like its idling at like 500. You made the right choice. Im happy for you. Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

Oh, by the way. Dont expect to lose that much gas mileage. i get 35 mpg on the freeway.

No clearance issues at all

The X3 on a 112 fits too, no clearance problems.

I cannot comment on the springs, but so far, everyone has had good luck with them

Let us know if we can help you out in any other way!

who sells the g5x3 and what are the specs?
*edit just looked it up*
so with that kind of lift you dont need to cut the pistions any?
hotness I was going to go with a small cam when I did mine 58X 224 type deal, but im looking more towards a larger cam now,, what kind of gains are typical for an LS1 cam only swap?

Thats an LG motorsports cam. You can find it on their homepage.

Adam, a friend of mine has a G5X3 on the same LSA in his Z06. Its a pretty violent cam in my opinion, at least soundwise. It makes great power, and according to him it is very streetable.

You can find him on z06vette, he posts as ss2z06, his name is Matt. He installed the cam himself, so Im sure he can give you some pointers.

Good luck!
