My brand new 'to me' 2000 coupe has been laid up for the past 11 days in the shop (so much for GM certified, watch out!) and I won't get it back until Monday. When I took delivery, I had the dealer install brand new GY EMT's and it was 'supposedly' aligned and high speed balanced. The question is that during the day and a half that I actually owned and drove it (still own it, shop drives it) there was no shimmy up to the high 70's then a pretty good shimmy from there on. The dealer told me today that they had the front tires (not back) high speed balanced again and that should take care of the problem (although they didn't drive it fast enough to check). I don't know how you could mess the HS BAL up in the first place since the balance machine basically says put this amount of weight here. If it still is out of balance when I get it back what else could be the problem? Might sound like I'm full of anxiety about this car, cause I am! Nothing like spending a bunch of bucks, extra because of GM Certification, only to have to find all the things wrong that they told me "WAS DONE FOR ME DURING THE CERTIFCATION" and then have to argue to get them repaired two days after purchase (BUYER BEWARE!).

what are theyding to it that they need it for eleven days.,., ??? and why are you waiting until Monday. balance is a 20 minute job. alignment is an hour..

Heater Vacuum Line controlling ventilation gates. Driver side seat bladder. Incorrectly installed valve stem cores on all tires. Re-alignment and HS Bal. Of course, lottsa excuses about very tricky vacuum line fix, waiting for bladder, other jobs at higher priority, people out sick, etc. I'm not really that concerned because I bought it for fun, not as a daily driver, so it's not impacting me, except emotionally. My wife's getting upset with me because I've been so stressed over this car and I promised her when I bought it that I would keep it 'fun' and it wouldn't become another burden in our lives ... guess I better start chillin'!

[iteachflyin] Thanks for the laugh, it'll make my wife happy to see me taking this on a much lighter note. By Monday, it'll all be over and I'll be enjoyin' my car!

Thanks, I know it will be worth it. And I really can't imagine myself why they just rebalanced the fronts and not the backs. But they're wearing me out. I'm just having one disappointment after another. Only had the damn thing for just over a day before she went back for all the work that should have been completed before I ever bought the car, especially based on the so-called GM certification BS. Now, today, even though I don't have the car, I finally received my expensive Lloyd mats and that order was wrong and they have to go back and be swtiched for the right ones (I ordered Black mats with a silver C5 logo and the word "CORVETTE" on them, they only came with the C5 logo). Gotta say though, they ARE BEAUTIFUL mats and will look fabulous in the footwells and cargo area.
