I have been trying to figure out what is happening with my 97 and these codes. I just bought the car and it has some mods, (vortex air box, A and A bypass pipes, all the cheap stuff) and it keeps giving codes about bank 2. Last week it was PO 430 and this week it is P 1416. I checked for air leaks and found some dry rotted lines and reset everything last week. Four days latter the check engine came on and it is back to rough idle. It was fine once I relearned the idle. It will even die if I have the air on in traffic. I hate to go to Mr. Goodwrench. I changed the plugs last week as well and did the SeaFoam. I also get other codes every week.
P1571, BO502, BO507, BO2482 AND ALOT OF U1016's
I have a list of the codes but now what?
Welcome to the forum,
Questions liek these will be best answered in the tech, section of the forum. best of luck to you with your codes.. Just a thought have you checked to make sure your air intake is completely secured? I've seen the MAF not be totally sealed before causing problems like that.
I have a great link for you to check out. You need to check your grounds out to make sure that they are not part of the problem. It is a FREE repair!! Cant beat that!! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...al+information
I will wxamine your other codes, look in the service manual and pin point some grounds for you to check. It is strongly recommended that you clean everyone of them!
I have been looking at the gearchatter site and did the simple stuff. Checked for loose wires etc. I think it must be the grounds. Lost some codes over the week, this is it
p1416 H, bo502 HC, bo507HC b2482HC, b2723 Which one sets the check engine, I hate that light.
This is the week to clear this up once and for all! Thanks
The P1416 code sets the light and is almost always caused by the passenger side (bank 2) AIR check valve sticking.
A new AIR check valve is not expensive but you will have to remove the intake manifold to gain access to the check valve. Removing the intake manifold is pretty straightforward but takes a few hours to remove and replace.
These instructions acually refer to replacing a LS1 intake with a LS6 intake, which requires changing some coolant lines. You can ignore the instructions that deal with the coolant lines, as you don't need to touch them.
The PCM will turn the light off after three consectutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail
