Default Random Windshiels Wiper Movement

Fellow Techies,

Getting sudden random windshield wiper movement as I drive. First I thought I was seeing things when noticing wipers were jerking up & down an inch or two during driving, but as time progressed they were getting more daring and started to move across the windshield as acting on their own. The next few times I was driving they would just come on by themselves with the switch OFF and I am franctically moving the switch various ways to no avail and then they would go back into position like nothing happened. I am get very perturbed, maybe sometime amused, but now its an annoyance and I need some tech support on how to approach in solving this mystery, thanks!

Your windshield wiper motor is getting flooded because your windshield cowl drains are plugged up with trash and GOOK!

Here is where you will find the drain tubes. if you dont have skinney arms, get your wife to jump in and help .

Here is a picture of the drain tube. The flash light beam is highlighting it:

THERE ARE THREE OF THEM IN THERE!

Here is a sample of what you will more than likley find inside all three tubes.

My Wipers did the samething right after I went through a brushless car was. The wipers kept coming on and not going down all the way with the switch off. And also when I turn the switch to on they did want to work right away. But they only did it that day about two weeks ago. I'm going to look into the drain tubes.

Quick thing though. Do the tubes just pop off or how do I get them off?

You can work the trash out of the bottom of the drain tubes, like milking a COW! . If you want to really get a firm grasp of the whole process, you can remove the access panel from the wheel well (remove the drivers front tire) and the drains are right there.

You should not need to rip out the tube.

I check and clean mine everytime I wash the car. Having the wipers freak out once is more than enough!!!

Bill - I'm having the same issue with the wipers. They wouldn't turn off after I washed my car and stayed stuck in the up position when I turned off the car. I just cleaned out a fair amount of debris from the three udders on the driver's side and on the one on the passenger side behind the battery but now the wipers won't work at all. What should I check next?

New member. Is the "wiper park switch" part of the wiper motor or is it the "off" position on the wiper control arm? Appreciate any guidance.

I cleaned out three others on the driver side and one on the passenger side and it did have debris in it and we did get a significant amount of rain the night before I have cleaned them out and the wipers still move in the off position up and down an inch one in Jeff 1 inch down and it doesn’t stop
