I have a '99 FRC , and periodically my fuel gauge drops to the red and my data screen reads reserve fuel , even when I've more than a half tank . Has anybody else experienced this .
Thanx in advance , Bill
I have the same problem with my 99 FRC, but at a 1/4 tank. I have read that it is from the gas that is used. I believe it is from having too much sulphur and causing corrosion. I have been using shell since I got this car and it seems to be helping.
Extremely common on C5 corvettes as well as other late model Chevy too. A co-worker had this with his 2000 Tahoe. Sulfer deposits on the fuel sending units are the problem. Techron fuel system cleaner (On sale at Pep Boys last week $3.99) seems to be what a lot of people use and it fixes the problem. I used Red Line fuel cleaner on mine and it cleaned up the problem. If you still have a warranty you could also use it to have the fuel sending units replaced. I would go the cleaner route first. this usually fixes the problem.
