I have an early 2000 FRC and not sure what generation active handling I have but this discusion has certainly been informative.I appreciate all the input and know that I'm not the only one on here that learns more by reading everyone else's problems/questions and concerns. Most of the time ,the answer can be found without asking anyone.I still LOVE this forum and appreciate the company of my fellow Corvette nuts. to all.!
I have a 2002 Coupe. I have a set of track rims and tires that have the exact same tire and wheel size for all 4 corners of my car. I run them with active handling on and in competitive mode without any problems.
I've run two years on the track with first OEM run-flats and then Z06 wheels and tires and after Bragg-Smith gotten pretty good at what I term, driving around the system, staying smooth enough to either keep it from comming on or only seeing it every 3/4 laps. That was until last weekend. I decided to try Kuhmo Ecsta's and had enough left on the GY supercars that I thought I'd run two more days with them on the fronts, bad idea. The Active Handling came on in turn 1 at TH and until I'd gone about 5sec's slower than my previous times it kept comming on in almost every turn, I see why some complain. It got better as I figured out a better pressure set up front to rear but never got near what I was able to do with GY's all around. Since I've already got the Kuhmo's for the front I'll run next time with them on both ends but not sure I won't go back to GY's since I want to stay on street's. FWIW, any inputs welcome.
Randy
The Kuhmo's are stock Z06 rear size, 295's.
BTW, the yaw sensor is a single solid state gyroscope with a self test mode that should turn it off if it gives what the system considers bad input. Not an engineer.
