Default removing front lowering bolts?

I keep hearing people say, in order to get the maximum drop you have to remove the front bolts. Also you need to put a piece of rubber between the spring and aframe.

my question is- What kind of rubber?? from what?? what size?

Any piece of rubber or silicone will work. The main thing here is to help prevent the spring from rubbing on the lower control arm....which can cause squeaks, and over time rub grooves in the lower control arm. I used a piece of a rubber floor mat myself.

How thick was the rubber you used?
What is your ground to fender height?

I have same sized front wheels as you and new Z06 springs. Bushings are cut and I am at 26.5 inches. Would like another .5 inch....

I got the bolts out and back in without disconnecting the control arm. I had a buddy pry the spring up from the control arm while I fished the bolt out. Not the safest method but it worked.

I just did the "front's" today, and I must say it is super easy!
I had the lower ball joint, swaybar, and tierod disconnected and the bolt out in 15 minutes.
Here are some pics from the job today.

Looks like those bushings were already cut...right? And now you took them out. Did you put some rubber in there? And how much lower did it go from the cut bushing height?

Thanks

Hey Viper Punisher (or anyone else for that matter) You wouldnt by any chance be willing to get rid of those bolts would you? I need some bad, but i would be happy to at least get some precise measurments so that i may be able to get a bolt that will work from a hardware store or something.

THanks

I've had mine out for three years, I also cut the shock bumber in half, it doesn't bottom at all. Ran stock shocks for about a year then went Bilstiens, not a huge differance. I also just rubbed a little synthetic grease on the A-arm where the spring now rides, no squeeks and no wear.

I have my front bolts removed and is not as low as your car (sig pic)... What did cutting the bumper in half do?

I'm sorry......what and where is the shock bumper?

So you don't have any rubber, only grease between the Aarm and spring? Can't this damage the spring?

where is the shock bumper? does cutting them in 1/2 give your shocks more movement? is the ride smoother?

If you take the shock cap off theres a snowman looking piece that I just cut in half, so it has a little more travel, did the same thing to the bilstiens. As far as damage, I have had it apart many times as I put the cut bolts in when I run my drag package and there is very minimal wear on the A-arm, a small piece of plastic or rubber I'm sure wouldn't hurt. I've lowered many C4's and the spring rides on the A-arm from the factory.
Izover4u- I think the extra weight of the magnuson is why my car sits a little lower than most.
