I have a 99 with the A4 tranny I'm at 48k I didn't get much info when I bought this car the previous owner didn't have it to long but it is mint, when should I have the tranny service done/and what should I have done, is there better fluid, is there a shift improvement kit, should I take it to a tranny shop or a GM dealer, or just where I get the oil change's done, do they just flush or is there filter/screens to replace, how much should I expect to pay ????????????

As mentioned above shop around. I paid 100.00 for a power flush at a dealer in Virginia. I would get the fluid changed if you don't know when it was last changed or how the car was driven. I would let the dealer change the fluid unless you know of a tranny shop that you have confidence in. Your cars tranny has a filter that has to be replaced not a screen that you just have to clean. I would also invest in a tranny cooler whether or not you are going to put a high stall T/C in your car. You can have your shift points and shift firmness adjusted by reprograming your cars computer. I would not install a shift kit.
