Default Header Gaskets

I am looking into buying a set of FLP Longtubes, and was wondering who sells the best, most reliable exhaust gaskets for these headers. I am used to the old hot rods, that when you installed headers, you were certain to have leaks! The dreaded pfst...pfst...pfst!

I dont want any part of that on this car!!

The original gaskets are metal and can be re-used. But to avoid leaks down the line, pick up some Bresslin header lock bolts. Once you torque them down, you lock the bolt in place with a central hex set-screw. They never loosen up, can be re-used over and over. They'll set you back $60 but it's worth it.

When I did my FLP's I was worried about the EXACT same thing. EVERY hot ro d iever owned ALWAYS had header leaks at some point. I used the bolts that came with my FLP's and the gaskets that came with the FLP's And so far going on 2 years it is totally leak free. HOWEVER after talking to some experts here - I SHOULD have reused my perfect condition metal factory gaskets instead. They are a GREAT piece od heavy duty work for sure. The FLP's are first rate and STILL look like new with no discoloring (not to mention the swappable CAT's) - GREAT CHOICE

I used GM gaskets for a Camaro. They have round ports that mate well to the header.

The stock GM steel gaskets do an excellent job with headers. Although I don't have the Breslin bolts, I like the way they are designed. They might be a little bit of overkill on the LS1's but I think if someone's really concerned, then use them and the GM gaskets.
